Boy Scout Troop 489 Uniform Policy

Troop 489's uniform consists of the official uniform shirt and pants with the following accessories: red shoulder bars, scout belt, red and black neckerchief, and special Troop 489 visor cap. The shirt is to be equipped with the following insignia: The Atlanta Area Council patch, the Troop numerals "489",the World crest, and the American flag patches. (See inside front and rear covers of the official Boy Scout Handbook for templates showing proper placement of patches.) The Troop 489 visor cap may be purchased from the Troop Quartermaster. The neckerchief slide may be an official Boy Scout slide or a handmade slide. Rubber bands, string, etc., are not acceptable replacements for a neckerchief slide.

All Scouts will be in uniform at Scout meetings and activities, and when the Troop is involved in public activities. The merit badge sash will be worn on special occasions such as a Court of Honor.

All Scouts are expected to wear their uniform both to and from camping trips, hiking trips, and service projects unless given other instructions by the Scoutmaster or Senior Patrol Leader.

In the summer months, Scouts may wear a scouting related T-shirt and the official uniform shorts if worn with the official scout socks.

Uniforms will be inspected at Troop meetings and at other special meetings as desired by the Senior Patrol and the Scoutmaster. New Scouts have one month before they are expected to have their uniforms and begin to participate in inspections.

Consult the Scout Handbook for specific details on how to wear the uniform and badges properly (inside front and rear covers)!! Any questions regarding insignia may be addressed to the Troop Committee or Scoutmaster.
