My History

On September 1,1994 at age 42, I was an actress, a flight attendant, a wife, and a mother of 3 children ages 19, 17,and 11. It started while I was vacationing in Cape Cod with my family. We took a bike ride and the foIlowing day every muscle I had used hurt terribly. This was not normal for me, because my usual physical activity included two aerobic classes a day, plus weight bearing exercises. I tried stretching exercises to loosen up, but then the muscles that I stretched hurt even more.

Prior to this I had chronic sore throats throughout the year, and chronic yeast infections. I was pumping tetracycline in quite regularly. I had also been on prozac for four years, and was now nearly completely weaned off of it. I was under a great amount of stress at my job as a flight attendant (which I had grown to HATE), I was getting a lot of rejections in the world of acting, there was some stress at home, I lost one of my friends, I was very upset that my first child had moved to Arizona to go to college, and then one of his dear friends was killed in a drunk driving accident.

By mid September I became extremely ill with the following symptoms: Spiking fevers, rashes / hives and sore throats that would not go away, extreme muscle pain and muscle weakness, arthritis that jumped from one joint to the other, and chronic fatigue. When I look back I realize that all of these symptoms (except for the spiking fevers) had been coming on slowly over the past year or two. In late September, when the fevers were coming every day and it became impossible for me to dress myself or even to go to the bathroom by myself, I was admitted into the hospital. To make a very long story shorter, I was given the "million dollar work-up", was seen by over thirty doctors and no one could come up with a "for certain" diagnosis, but finally after my seventeenth day in the hospital a Rheumatologist put a label on my illness "Still's Disease." Still's disease is diagnosed by "exclusion" I was told. The definition of Still's Disease is adult onset of jeuvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

For the next two years I fought the symptoms, and fought the doctors and the toxic medicines that they wanted me to stay on. I fired a Yale doctor, and was then left to wean myself off of prednisone. I searched out almost every "alternative" to steroids that was possible. I went to Deepak Chopra's place in Lancaster Mass., learned meditation and read that rebounding (jumping, jogging, or bouncing on a mini-trampoline) would help arthritics by stimulating the immune system and flushing out the synovial fluids from the joints, as well as flushing out the toxins in your body. I crawled up on a rebounder and started to do a sitting bounce. Later I was able to graduate to a jumping routine, and loved it so much, and felt so much better that I started a small rebounder business from my home. After realizing that rebounding had helped stabilize my symptoms by about 90%, I even made a "Health Bounce" video, to help others get started on this wonderful program (for rebounder and video please refer to (http://www.the-good-life.com/chbr.html.).

However, in October 1996 I began having Still's "flare ups" every other weekend, and this was beginning to interfere with the life that I THOUGHT I had started to get back. Each time I was exposed to anyone with a cold, virus, or flu I ended up in bed all weakened with arthritis, fibromayalgia, sore throat, some fever, and fatigue. Then the holidays came which added more STRESS in my life. Since STRESS is a known factor in bringing on the "flare ups" and I couldn't really do too much to release the stress (other than bounce on my rebounder and meditate when I could find time) .... each full day of stress, and all the things I "just had to do", brought on a weekend of my being sick in bed.

I am a fighter and I guess a little spoiled at getting my way, so in my mind there was "no way" that I was going to allow my life to be robbed by this disease, so I researched a subject that I had heard a little about from my Naturopath - OZONE. I looked up OZONE on the Internet, read all the testimonials, and against most of my friends and relatives advice .... On January 6, 1997 I gave myself a birthday present and went to New York City for the treatments. Dr. Carozza at the Health and Healing Center referred to Stills disease as a cytomegalovirus (which I had heard from one or two other doctors), and he said that OZONE worked well at killing this, and many other viruses. After the fourth treatment I was feeling a lot more energy and was not having any of my past symptoms. By the tenth session I was "flying high".

At this writing, July 20, 1997 I am happy to announce that I have been in remission since January, and I stopped the Ozone treatments in May.In fact I have so much energy that I am traveling around the country visiting friends and relatives (making up for lost time), and I'm even sending out my acting resumes again.

Next I decided to do something about the chronic hives that I have had since coming down with Stills. I found a wonderful treatment that actually ELIMINATES your allergies, and it is working for me. Here is the name and explaination of the treatment:NAET (Nambudripads Allergy Elimination Technique) can actually ELIMINATE the causes of the itching, clicking of jaw, and asthma. This technique was discovered by a Dr. Nambudripad who had so many allergies that all she could eat was brocoli and rice for three years, until she put together some basic techniques that incorporate Kineseology, accupuncture and chi. After I came down with Still's I began to have allergies to SOOO many things, and lived with hives every day of my life. So far this method has cleared me of the following allergies: Sugar, chlorine, clorox, detergents, calcium/chloride, sodium, salt, animal fats, aloe, caffeine, chocolate, cocoa butter, wheat grains, and more. I have about 10 more items to be "cleared" of. I am convinced that this thechnique is adding to my state of physical well-being, and my hives are down dramatically. One of the patients in my doctors office is the president of the Arthritis Foundation in NY and said that this treatment has not only cleared her of most of her allergies, but that she doesn't have arthritis anymore as a result of getting rid of the alleriges. (Allergies can be the cause of, or a contributor to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and arthritis). This is the only method I know of that ELIMINATES the allergies, and does not just "treat the symptoms".

If you or anyone else wants information on this technique or how to find a doctor in your area who practices NAET call this number and ask for an NAET doctor in your area: 714-523-0800. Dr. Nambudripad personally teaches all the doctors who practice this technique at her pain clinic in California. If they have not been trained by her, they are not practicing HER method. You can also order her book called, Say Goodbye to Illness" or the "NAET GUIDE BOOK", by calling 714-523-8900. You will be amazed when you read the case histories, and how are joints, muscles, brains, nervous systems, etc. are affected we are by our foods and our environment !!!!

I have learned a lot about doctors (I've seen over 40 of them), medicines, and alternative therapies since coming down with Stills. My dream now is to produce a television show where I can share and introduce all the many "healthy alternatives" that I have learned about, and that have helped me in the past three years.

My prayer is for your continued / renewed health, and that no one ever takes their health for granted again! Love, Carol Brophy
