From Appalachia and To Whom These presents Shall Come, Greeting: You've reached deep within "the mountains", in the south eastern
coalfields of the Cumberland Plateau. A region of ridges and valleys where roots run deep.
And Kentucky's eastern boundary to the states of Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. People of the
mountains are surviving regardless of the hardship that comes their way in every day living. From time immemorial
native peoples of Appalachia and the settlers who came thereafter learned the ways of the outdoorsmen and were not
enemies of this land nor of the poor folk.
they loved these hills, hollows, valleys and the variety of
vegetation that grows here and the animals that make the mountains their home.
enjoyed clean running streams
fresh mountain air
cared for
their kin and friends
and worshiped God.
