Old Style vs. New Style
The old style (Julian) calendar was used in the Roman Catholic
countries (Spain, Italy, France etc.) until 1582. It was used
until 1752 in the British Empire (incl. American colonies), until
1873 in Japan, 1912 in China, 1918 in Russia, 1923 in Greece, and
1927 in Turkey.
