THE TENNESSEE/ALABAMA WALLINGSFORDS
Family Tradition states that this branch of the family was founded by John Wallingsford of Virginia. Which John Wallingsford, remains a mystery. However, it is a strong possibility that the John Wallingford mentioned in the Will of Elizabeth Clark of Berkeley County, Virginia (now West Virginia), was the one. Elizabeth's will was filed in Berkeley County and is recorded in Will Book 1, page 11. She named two grandsons, John and Benjamin Wallingford. A Phebe Wallingford witnessed the will. Perhaps Phebe was a daughter of Elizabeth. Benjamin was probably the same Benjamin who moved to Mason County, Kentucky in the 1780s then to Hamilton County, Ohio by 1800.
Isaac Wallingsford was born about 1790 in Virginia.
