Alexandra's Lullabye

Late at night when you are fast asleep, your hands curled under your chin, your legs drawn up and your eyes shut tight, I wonder what visions are enticing you there.

Are you dreaming of angels, of clouds in the sky? Are you dreaming of oceans, the ebb of the tide? Are you playing in slumbering happiness sweet? Are you sliding on rainbows with friends that you meet?

Are you running through fields in the bright summer glare? Are you dancing on rooftops and skipping on air? Are the butterfly's colorful wings all a glow? Are you wishing on stars and playing in snow?

Are you catching moon beams that light up the dark? Are you swinging so high you cant see the park? Are you doing the things that are special to you? Are you laughing and smiling and chasing the blues...

and the reds, the yellows, the pinks and the greens? Are there gold rays of sunshine that shine in your dreams? And when the night ends and you awake to the day, are you smiling at all of the games you have played?

You are my rainbow, my moon beams, my glow. You are the feel of the sun on the snow. You are my laugh, my star in the sky. You are the twinkle that shines in my eye.

You are my world, my ocean so blue. The one that sleeps soundly, goodnight, I love you.
