Messages From the Pastor

September 2000

(The words inside the quotation marks are from Psalm 63:1-8, in the New International Version. The words in italics are my words of praise to God, based on the words of Psalm 63)

"O god, You are my God, earnestly I seek You, my soul thirsts for You, my body longs for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water."
Oh, God, it means so much to me to know that You are my God. I need You so bad.

"I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and Your glory."
My mind goes back to times I have worshipped You before, and it has made such a difference in my life.

"Because Your love is better than life, my lips will glorify You."
Your love makes my life! I have never been better! You are the reason for that! You get the glory!

"I will praise You as long as I live, and in Your name I will lift up my hands."
I love praising You every day. You drove me to Yourself, and get my hands up in the air.

"My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods."
I would rather have a rich time of worshipping You than to eat the best steak and baked potato in the country.

"...with singing lips my mouth will praise You."
I can't help but sing praises to You.

"On my bed I remember You; I think of You through the watches of the night."
I lie in bed thinking about You, no matter the hour.

"Because You are my help, I sing in the shadow of Your wings."
Because You have always been there for me, and You are here with me now, I sing, knowing Your presence and Your protection deep in my heart.

"My soul clings to You; your right hand upholds me."
I am compelled to draw closer and closer to You. I want to be close enough to feel Your touch and embrace. Your hand makes all the difference in my life.

Now it's your turn. Praise God. Right now. Right where you are. In the words that express your seeking, thirsting, and longing for God. In the words that express your experience with God and your devotion to God. Remind yourself of why God is worthy to be praised. Remind God of how much He means to you. Draw closer to God. Praise God. Right now. Nothing brings perspective like praising God. You were made to praise God.

"How pleasant and fitting to praise Him!" (Psalm 147:1b, NIV)

What a pleasure, praising and serving the Lord, with You.
Bro. Danny
