James H. was the 8th child of John Andrew Jackson and Mary Ann (Davis) Altom, and a grandson of Spencer and Christina (Shipman) Altom. He was born May 19th, 1860 in Tennessee and married Ida COUSINS March 6, 1890 in Independance County, AR. They had eleven children who were:

James died November 10, 1929 and was buried at Pine Grove Cemetary. His wife, Ida, died April 30, 1951.
Anne was born 5/30/1891 and died 7/1/1892
JamesThomas was born 2/23/1893 and died 6/19/1958. He married Martha Ellen DAVIDSON on 2/25/1920 and they had two children: Mollie Marie and Lula Helen.
Virtie Belle(4/12/1895-6/23/1927) married Charles Edwin SNELLING. She had five children. Truman Odell Altom was her first son with three more, by Charles Snelling, who were: Suzie Izora, Alice Elizabeth, Mary Anna, and Don.
William(3/21/1897-3/28/1924) married Pearl WHITE and had children, Nancy Jane and Linda Lee.
Esther Mae(1/17/1899-2/1989) married James Frank Martin and had the following children: James Edward, Buil Erwin, Orville, Vena Aileen, and Lena Pauline.
Mary(2/8/1901-2/26/1919) Mary had one known child who was Orvind Vernon (O.V.) Altom. No further info on her.
Arrie(5/25/1903-2/17/1926) married Ed GRISSOM and had the following children: James and Alma.
Bessie Tulula (7/29/1905-7//8/1927) married Harry Daniel WILSON and they had one child: Nayomia Izora
Theodore Roosevelt (6/19/1908-7/7/1972) married Harriet A. RIGDON and they had the following children: Kenneth Randolph, Kendell Theodore, and Katherine.
The Infant (Little Brother Altom) was born 3/6/1912 and died 3/12/1912
Johnnie was born 5/27/1916 and died 9/10/1917.
