It has 504.759 square kilometeres. Has a population of near 40 million people. Madrid is the Capital and the official language is the Spanish. In this country we have also three languages from three different regions: Galician, Basque and Catalan. Spain is border with FRANCE to the North and with Portugal to the West. Three seas arrive to the Spanish coasts: The Atlantic Ocean to the West, the Mediterranean Sea to the South and East and the Cantabric Sea to the North. Other important cities are: Barcelona, Sevilla, Bilbao, Zaragosa and A Coruņa. As well as my birth city, Vigo.
We don't have to forget the well-known Palma de Mallorca and also Ibiza, as well as The Canary Islands, Las Palmas and Tenerife.
One of the most important things in Spain is the great tradition that it has. Like all the Mediterranean places, the old ages were full of events of all kinds.
The wars between the Spaniards and the different Arabics tribes, gives to the Peninsule Iberic, as it is known Portugal and Spain, a lot of different Mauresque buildings of great beauty as the Granadien La Alhambra.
The Spanish empire, with the Catolics Kings Isabel and Fernando, was at its high peak. Castilla, called in that way because of its high amount of castles (in Spanish Castillo) was the heart of the Empire. Because of this, the main language in Spain it is the castellain. The different Arabic tribes tried to conquer the Iberic Peninsule, but Isabel and Fernando defeated them. With the Spanish troops, fighted Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, most well-known as EL CID. It is said, among the populates that he even won some battles after his death, because his presence frightened the enemies of the Spanish Crown. He becames a royal knight for all his services to the Crown also. After that, the most important character that appeared in the life of Fernando and Isabel, was the most well-know Cristobal Columbus. The great discoverer!!!. Trying to reach LA INDIA but crossing the Earth on the opposite way, he reached to America in 1492. He thoughts in the very beggining that he was in LA INDIA, but then he realized that he was in a new continent. THE NEW WORLD. But some theories said that the discoverer of America was AMERICO VESPUCCIO, two years before the arrival of Columbus. And maybe these theories are right, because of the name of the New Continent.
Spain also has a lot of structures from the Old Roman Empire, like the Aqueduct of Segovia. All the Iberic Peninsule is full of examples of the old Roman Art.
We have also the tradition of the Celtic tribes. You can find this kind of tradition in the Galician region. A place with a lot of Celtic fortresses.
