WILL of ANDREW BROUGHTON

In the Name of God Amen. I Andrew Broughton of the Parish of St. George, Dorchester, in sound and disposing Mind, blefsed be God, but being mindful of the Frailty and Uncertenty of human Life, do make this my last Will and Testament in Form and Manner following. First I commit my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God in Hopes of a joyfull Resurrection to eternal Life, through the Merits and Mediation of our Lord Jesus Christ, and my Body to the Earth to be buried in as plain a Manner and with as little Cost and Expense as pofsible by Executors herenafter named. And as to such worldly Goods as it hath pleased God to blefs me with I give and bequeath in Form and manner following.

In Primis, my Will is that all my just Debts be first paid.

Item. I give and bequeath to my dear and loving wife Ann Broughton one seventh Part of my Negroes with ther futer Increase, to her and her Heirs for ever and the Use of all my Household goods, Plate, my Stock of Cattel and Hoggs with my riding chiar and two Drought Horses so long as she shall remain sole, and unmaried and no longer and then to be equally amongst my Children that then shall be alive, or the Heirs of shuch as may deed to them and their Heirs that is to say that the Children of the Deceased to draw shuch Shear as there Father or Mother would have donn in Case they had bin alive, and no more the Rest and Resedue of my Negroes to be equally devided amongst my Children Shear and Shear alike as they come of Age that is my Sons at the age of twenty one Years and my Daughters at the Age of eighteen or the Day Mariage which shall first happen, but in Case any of my children shall die before he or she shall become of shuch age then the Shears of shuch Child or Children shall return to my Estate, and be equally devided amongst the Survivors as afore mentioned, and as an now in my Life pofsest of Land Warrants to the amount of eighteen hundred Acres I give and bequeath the said Warrants to my Sons Andrew Broughton Richard Broughton and Thomas Broughton to be equally devided between them the being at all Expense of runing and purchasing which Lands I bequeath to them an their Heirs and assgines for ever. I do constitute and appoint my dear and Loving Wife Ann Broughton Executrix so long as she remains sole and unmarried and no longer and my loving Friends Alexander Wright Esqr. And my Sons Richard Broughton and John Fabian Exors of this my last Will and Tesatament revoking all last and former Wills. I witnefs of which I have set my hand and Seal this Seventh day of June in the year
of our Lord 1779
