Ed Burchfiel Ed Burchfiel - Son of John and Rebecca, cousin Ed, still active at 85, has won awards for newspaper journalism, and acclaim as 'the best newsman in Oklahoma. He and wife Maxine owned the Cordell Beacon newspaper, before retiring. Ed began his newspaper career at age 17, as an office boy.
