The Compassionate Friends asks families around
the world to join them in a special memorial candlelighting
in honor of all children who have died.

The first special lighting was held on Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997.
It is now done on the second Sunday of each December. Light
your candle(s) at 7 p.m. in your time zone.

As candles burn down in one time zone, they will be lit in the
next, so that candles will be burning in memory of the children
for the entire day of December 14.

The third Saturday of August is designated as National Homeless Animal Day
and is marked nationally by animal rights groups and shelters with candlelight vigils.

The graphic above is a tiny kitten found after a family moved away and left
the pregnant mother to fend for herself and her litter. A friend of mine,
Lori is also a catlover and has taken this tiny kitten and its siblings in.
Loving homes will be found for them, and they will be neutered
when they are mature enough.

want to visit United Pet Way.

UPW is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help homeless animals,
provide services for shelters and educate the public about animal issues.
They are gathering signatures to help decrease the numbers of animals that
