"Candy" was
rescued from a cardboard box, tossed into a wooded lot. The rest
of the litter didn't survive. She was a sweet cat but full of the
dickens, getting into trouble all the time. We think her growth was stunted by early starvation, because she was the most "compact" cat I have ever seen. She was very protective of my young daughters, as they grew. Molly (see Present Cats) is almost a mirror image of Candy ... and both cats claimed Cassie as theirs. We lost Candy, at 15, to a "non functioning gut disorder" when Cassie was six. Several months later, we got Molly whose birth date coincided with the day we lost Candy. It was almost like a reincarnation.
