SHOPPING
--------
Visit Honest Ed's. A real experience, for sure. People line up for his
door-crasher specials. Great place for bargains, colourful sight
for tourists, awful place to shop!
It is at Bathurst and Bloor Sts, just opposite the Bathurst subway
station, on the Bloor line. Go around the corner to Mirvish
Village (Ed Mirvish, i.e. "honest" ed). Nice little shopping
street--great children's bookstore, nice art book shop.
The Hudson Bay Company is a large department store in which you can find
just about anything you need.
SIGHTS
------
Must-See's include the Eaton Center, Royal Ontario Museum, CN Tower,
SkyDome (they have a great tour!), Art Gallery of Ontario, Ontario Science
Center, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame are all
popular.
THEATRE/ENTERTAINMENT
---------------------
Pick up one of the weekly entertainment rags like "Now" or "Eye". Check
what's on at Roy Thompson Hall for big name and classical, the Recita
for classical, Okeefe Center, Massey Hall may also have something on.
The "Eye" is available via ftp at io.org. Articles and listings are
available on some newsgroups as well (tor.general and ont.general)
Plays, you ask? Toronto is North America's second largest center
for live theatre (next to New York). They say you could attend a
different play over a 3 month period, every night of the week and
not see the same play twice! If you want to see one of the large
scale productions (ie Phantom, etc) I would suggest that you attempt
to obtain tickets prior to your arrival!
For nightclubs, try Queen Street West and trendy, chic Yorkville.
