From Sandi---the Editor

For this time in Hobby Corner, I would like input on our member's current read. It does not matter what type book? If not reading a book, what magazines do you like? Or do you just read the daily newspaper? If so, what section first?

I would also love to hear their favorite type of book...romance, mystery, crime fiction, non-fiction, self-help, classics, etc.

Lots of people say, "I don't read" but usually they do...it may be Ladies Home Journal or The Star at the supermarket or Reader's Digest but almost everyone reads at some time during the day or week. Those who listen to Audiobooks while driving, etc are welcome to weigh in also.

I read:
Gothic Romance= pirates/deep south/etc
Horror= dean coontz, stephan king
witchcraft= healing stones, candles, good things, not black magic.
readers digest=love the short stories.
Star/Enquirer=lol...I like garbage now and then.

Hello!
I'm not currently reading anything right now, but my faves are true-crime books and any type of medical books. I prefer books that are actual, not made up. But I am planning on getting Tess Garritsen's "The Surgeon" this week (it's not a true book, but one of the Nurse's I work with gave it 2 thumbs up.)

Hugs,
Candy

I am currently reading a book called "Arkansas", it contains 4 short stories by different authors. It's a Christian Romance that takes place in various spots in Arkansas. I really enjoy it because that's where I'm originally from, and one of the towns in it (Eureka Springs, AR) is only an hours drive from where I live now, and was only 30 minutes from my home town,. So when it's talking about certain inns, and restaraunts, I can REALLY see WHERE it's going on.

Anyways, there are a bunch of books like this....South Carolina, Texas, Aloha(Hawaii) Tennisee, I've read them all.

My favorite books are Christian romance, I am subscribed to Heartstrings bookclub, and that' s how I come across these books.

OK...I am an avid book reader, I must say! We even converted one of the guestrooms into a library :-) Marc swears that he will NOT, I repeat NOT, build another library in this house LOL!! Nor will he build anymore bookcases. Of course he didn't say that I couldn't BUY another bookcase... *w*

I am a die hard fantasy fan ... now that Fantasy as in Sci-Fi/Fantasy and not porn ... just for clarification LOL I love the works of Tolkien, David Eddings, Robin Hobb, Brian Jacques, Robert Jordan ... and so many others. I also read Stephen King, although his styles has changed since he has gotten older, so now it's ... well ... different. Yes, I've read all the Harry Potter books and enjoyed them - but I thought he 5th book, was a bit of a hormonal roller coaster. I mean...it's pretty obvious that J.K. was preggers when she was writing it :-) I also love the classics - Mark Twain, Shakespeare, Dickens and Cooper. Someday, though, I'll sit down and read 'Moby Dick' - I've never done that.

I also keep subscriptions to... Smithsonian Magazine, Better Homes & Garden, Women's Day, Crafts, Crafts 'N' Things, CrafTrends, Car & Driver, Automobile, Corvette Fever, 'Vette, Road & Track and Hemmings. I haven't listened to a good audio book in ages, although my collections consists of a few Stephen King and a couple of the original Winnie the Pooh :-) Last but not least, I collect children's books. Little Golden Books and anything with interesting art. I rather fancy artwork from Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz and Puss in Boots.

Ciao!!

I love Audiobooks and am currently enjoying "Reflex" by Dick Francis, one of his older books but I enjoy all his work. My site features dog and cat mysteries, British mysteries, Victorian and others, such as Southwestern and just "miscellaneous." I have a large collection of books, both paperback and hardback. I belong to three different book clubs.

I subscribe to Vanity Fair and like to read People Magazine and Us. I don't buy The Globe and Star but if someone else at work does, I always read them.
