Sandi's Collections

I have now been collecting the Dept 56 villages for about five years. Space is a problem and for a while mine were displayed on a table in the dining room but I have since placed them in glass front cabinets to keep dust (and pet hair) away. I like the Dickens Village and Snow Village.

I collect books and thimbles and lighthouses also. Most of the books are just for reading. I have thimbles from almost every state and from some foreign countries. My kitchen is decorated with some of my lighthouse things.

My most unusual collectible is probably the old magazine ads featuring the Flying Red Horse. They are hard to find but I love the art- work. I can remember looking through magazines as a very young child and being fascintated with the beautiful ads. When I was able (many years later) I found old magazines and bought those for the pictures.

Peke Collectibles are a must with all lovers of the breed and we latch on to each little thing...keychains, magnets, etc. I have thimbles, pillows, etc. with Pekes and lots of pictures. I "collect" the live versions too, since we have over a dozen. Pekes are not one of the current "popular" breeds so it is hard to find the "collectibles".
