Potpourri
This is truly a mixed bag, and the section which will probably be changed and updated most frequently. You'll find everything from soup to nuts here - places we've visited often enough to certify them as habit-forming! Happy browsing!
"Food, Food, Glorious Food!"
Speaking of "soup to nuts" - there are some great cooking resources available on the web. A couple personal favorites include:
Recipes from the National
Pork Producers Council - After living so many years in
Iowa, it would seem unpatriotic if we didn't have "the other
white meat" for dinner at least once a week. Here you'll
find great recipes, as well as tips on choosing the best cuts,
and preparation hints.
Cyber Kitchen - A great place to visit,
this is the website of The Food Channel, available on some cable
networks. If it isn't available in your area, check out their
website... recipes, restaurant guides, shopping and much more.
NOT a good place to visit if you're dieting! (There are some
great recipes here for canines, too, courtesy of the nationally
famous Three Dog Bakery.)
The Kraft Interactive
Kitchen
- Lots of quick recipes and meal-planning tips here. Also
entertaining helps and much more. After a busy day, when you're
lacking inspiration, this is a good place to prowl for ideas.
There's also a feature allowing you to establish your own
personal recipe file on-line.
The Campbell Kitchen - Another source for quick
meals. This one lets you browse and select recipes based on what
ingredients you have on hand at any given time. Also an online
store if you're into Campbell's collectibles.
Reiman Publications - These folks publish some
fine magazines (Country,
Country Woman & Taste
of Home, among others) that feature home
cooking and which are free of advertising. At their website,
you'll find selected recipes from all these publications, which
are changed frequently, or you can subscribe or purchase their
wonderful cookbooks for your personal collection.
Buffalo Wings from the
Anchor Bar
- If you've never tasted the "real thing", visit the
homepage of the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY where "Buffalo
Wings" were born! You can order the original Wing Sauce in
quantities small or large, find some other unique uses for the
sauce, and discover some amazing "Buffalo Wing Trivia"
- Note! the sauce is not for the faint of heart, but after you
have authentic Buffalo Wings, no others will EVER measure up!
"Greetings!" |
Electronic Greetings are a handy way to brighten someone's day and let them know you're thinking of them, whatever the occasion (or when there's no "occasion" at all). Most of the time, the service is free. Here are a few sites worth exploring.
Golden Retriever E-Mail
Postcards
- I just had to include this link here, as well as in the dogs'
favorite links! Original postcards featuring Golden Retrievers in
many moods.
Blue Mountain Arts - Many of the cards
feature both sound and animation. Cards for most occasions, in a
variety of styles.
ArkWorld Electronic
Greetings
- Photographic cards on a variety of themes, from typical
holidays & occasions to blank cards featuring everything from
wildlife to landscapes and Asian scenes. Some really beautiful
photography.
Toongrams - This has some of the
most humorous and downright wacky cards around. If you appreciate
the Gary Larson school of humor, you'll find just the thing here.
Neatly categorized and worth a browse just for the giggles. You
can also send "Virtual Gifts" or
"Mail-a-Meal" from this site.
Internet Card Central - This is a very complete
index of other e-card providers. It's kept fairly well
up-to-date, and you can find all sorts of links to special
interest e-card providers here, as well as to more general
collections.
