Bathsheba, married to Uriah, was bathing when King David saw her from his roof top. He summoned her to the castle and slept with her. She then became pregnant. David had Uriah killed by placing him in the front line of a battle. Bathsheba was then brought to the castle and David married her. She bore David a son but the Lord was not pleased with what David had done. Nathan (a prophet) told David that his sins had been forgiven but his son (born of Bathsheba) would die. To read the full story in the bible see 2 Samuel 11 and 12. This quilt is part of a group of quilts that will be exhibited together depicting women of the bible.
