Introducing!.....

...The new member of our family, Namir, our 8 wk old kitten.
On the 4th of June, 1997, Sean and I visited the
local humane society, and found a half Manx, half Abbysinian
kitten in one of the cages, and fell in love.

We took her in the visiting room, and played with her, and watched
her play, and loved every second of it, we had to bring her home.
After some work on our Apt. Manager, she was convinced to let
us bring little Namir home, and we did, that very evening.
Her name, Namir, fit right away. Namir means Leopard in Hebrew, and
seemed to fit her feisty attitude, and beautiful markings.
We made the introductions with Mason, and there has been some
hissing and swatting and growling from the older cat, but today
the hissing and swatting have subsided.
Namir has taken to stalking Mason, wherever she goes, but has
been very good about backing off when it was needed. She wants
to eat both her, and Masons food, and play with anything that moves,
including our ankles. Of course, she is a kitten, and we don't mind.
We have planned our schedule around the new baby, making sure one
of us is home at all time within this first week, and we are hoping
that soon Mason and Namir will become fast friends.

Update June 21, 1997:
What we hoped for has come true, and Mason & Namir are the
best of friends. Mason, who has always been a lively cat, has
found an extra burst of energy, she & Namir enjoy the
"Stalk & Chase" game. We certainly couldn't have better entertainment.

Update October 10, 1997:
Namir was taken to the vet on the 8th for her spay and
second feline leukemia shot. She came home at approx. 4pm
with a shaved belly, and an obviously stressed out behavior.
It was a rough night, but she's started recovery and has
gained a good amount of energy today.

Update October 24th, 1997:
Namir had her stitches out Tues., Oct 21st with no problems.
The vet visit seemed to stress her out, and she slept for
hours on return. Since then she seems to be gathering all her
lost energy, and is back, in full force!

Update December 8th, 1997:
The x-mas tree came home today, and is now all set up. Namir
watched the goings-on and as soon as we stepped back she went
crazy! After a few time of "Namir No!" and a squirt from the
spray bottle, she's resigned to sniffing it, running around it
like a mad kitten, and stalking Mason around it.

Update March 5th, 1998:
Namir, now at almost one year old, has grown into a sweet,
beautiful, albeit, crazy cat. She still remains a baby in
my eyes, however she holds her own with Mason, and has
thrived in our new home.

Update July 3rd, 1998:
Shhhhh, don't tell Namir, but she has a date coming up.
With whom, you ask? T.E.D. (The Evil Dr.)! Namir goes in
sometime next week for her annual Booster, Leukemia, &
Rabies vaccination. Were also considering a dental exam!
Best to get it all done in one Pop!

Update September 20th, 1998:
If you've read Masons update, then you already know we have
brought a new member of the family home, our lab mix, Annie.
Well, it appears that Namir has found a new friend in Annie
as they have become quite close...playing chase games, and
in general amusing one another. This is, of course, welcomed
by Mason, who now has a break from Namirs energy, although
the two cats still find plenty of time for each other.

Update September 30th, 1999:
Drum roll please! Introducing...Grown Up Namir~

Stay tuned for more on Namir & Mason
