In loving memory of Scarlett-
(aka Kiki)
Scarlett was given to my family years ago by friends whom
had a litter by their own cat. She was 1/2 Persian, and 1/2
Siamese, with big blue eyes and tufts of white furr, which
gradually darkened as she aged.
She was, at times in my life, my best friend, & a wonderful
companion. She survived many moves, other pets including several
dogs, birds, one hamster, and in general a hectic life that probably
lead to her overeating, and lack of exercise.
At 8 years of age Scarlett was severely overweight (despite
attempts to put her on a diet), and obviously unhealthy.
In mid-June, 1993, the decision to put Scarlett down because
(as I was told at a later time) of feline diabetes and other
health related causes, was made. She was gone before I knew
it, before I could say goodbye...and before I understood why.
The loss of Scarlett hit me harder than I thought possible, and to this
day I ache for her old habits to overtake new cats.
The way she would snuggle against my head on the
pillow at night, or meow to be held and pet and loved.
For Mason and Namir we have a new vet, and although I could
never say with absolute positivity that the old vet made a
mistake, I do wish I had taken more time to get opinions and
facts about the information I was given.
If you, for any reason, need a second (3rd, 4th..) opinion
(from a non-vet, but cat lover and owner of many feline
"manuals") then feel free to email me. Or, if you simply need
support in dealing with the loss of your cat,
or understanding and coping with their illness, email me.
I know of more than one support group, and am always willing
to "talk" to, or "listen" to you.
