Welcome to Haines! As you can probably tell, this area is still under construction. I intend to put up some pics of my beautiful hometown, and share with you what life in a small Alaskan town is like. We are located 80-90 airmiles from the capital city, Juneau. Surrounded by mountains on all sides and one of the world's deepest fjords, the scenery in Haines breathtaking. We have a vast assortment of wildlife: grizzlies, black bear, moose, porcupines, otters (river and sea), wolves, foxes, bobcats, whales, porpoises, seals, sealions, Dall Sheep and mountain goats to name a few. Our Eagle preserve, along the Chilkat River, is a site where up to 4000 American Bald Eagles congregate for the salmon. I will try to get more up here soon including info on the wildlife and pictures. Come back soon!!!
