In Memory of ...

Saturday Ramblins, Vol. 2, No. 11 (June 5, 1999)

It was a busy morning, I was feeding my two young sons breakfast. Hubby had already gone off to work. The phone rang. It was a friend of my friend Lisa who was crying. She told me that Lisa and her husband Ralph just died in a plane crash in Detroit.

Ralph and Lisa had just been in town from California because Lisa was a bridesmaid in her friend's wedding. They stayed with us for a couple of days; we had such a nice visit.

I was terribly hurt and so was my husband when he learned of the tragedy. It took a week before they identified all the bodies since over 200 had perished. A six-year-old girl was the only survivor.

Before this shocking incident we were going along thinking "life is good." All of the sudden we needed God! He was waiting patiently for us. Since this tragedy, Jesus has come to be our best friend. We thank him for the time we had with Lisa and Ralph and for their precious friendship.

We went to their funeral at St. Vincent's -- the same church where we attended their wedding just 10 months earlier. Lisa and Ralph, we miss you and look forward to seeing you again in God's kingdom. Amen.
