CHIPPEWA VALLEY MUSEUM:
There are a couple of excellent displays at the museum. One on logging history and one exhibit called "Potluck", which is about the mix of immigrants who settled Eau Claire, some of whom were Norwegians. The museum also has an old soda fountain, a good place for sundaes and ice cream cones, and lots of other interesting things.
We also visit the Anderson Log House. Lars and Greta Anderson raised 10 children in this two-story log home. Built in the 1860s, the construction reflects the owners Scandinavian heritage.
PAUL BUNYAN LOGGING CAMP:
Paul Bunyan and his faithful blue ox Babe welcome you to the Paul Bunyan Logging Camp and Interpretive Center. Here you will visit an authentic replica of an 1890s logging camp. The Interpretive Center provides an excellent introduction to the Logging Camp with actual file footage of the historical logging operations.
WALDEMAR AGERS HOUSE:
Mr. Ager was born in Fredrikstad in 1869, immigrated to Chicago in 1885 where he apprenticed as a typesetter. In 1892 he moved to Eau Claire where he married, had 9 children and became a writer. See his home and find out what has been done to save it from the wreckers ball.
FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH:
Founded in 1865, First Lutheran quickly became a primary place of worship for thousands of Norwegian immigrants, including Waldemar Ager.
