A LOT OF DOG IN A LITTLE BODY
This is a very good way to describe the Minature Pinscher, or Minpin as it is known by it's fanciers. This lively little dog displays few characteristics that one would expect from a toy breed. Known by many as the King Of Toys his vim and assertiveness have earned him the reputation of a spirited and dauntless companion.
It is not a scaled down version of the Larger Doberman Pinscher which it resembles in conformation and color. It is not bred down from that variety. Both were developed in Germany in the latter part of the nineteenth century, and both are beleived to have a large portion of the English Black-and-Tan Terrier in their ancestry. The breed was not standardized until until 1895 when the Pinscher Klub was formed in Germany.
Min Pins come in a variety of colors. Red, Stag Red, Black/Rust, Chocolate/Rust, and Blue.
Although Minpins are usualy playful with children, they are hardly the dog recommended for a household with very young children. They tend to be protective of their property and may become agressive to protect what he sees as his.
Minpins are also known in some respects to be a one-man, or one-woman, dog. They usually select one member of a family as "their person" and just tolerate other members in the household.
Our three Minpins are very different in their personalities. Let me try to describe each of them for you:
