The violin is the highest instrument of the "violin family." It is made of wood, and played with a bow. It's held under the chin. It has four strings, tuned in fifths. From highest to lowest, they are E, A, D, and G.
I started learning the violin in late June, 1997. I'm enjoying the chance to learn something new, and multiple instruments are a good start toward a college degree in music. This year, I'm playing in the ninth grade orchestra at the high school.
