UNDERWATER PHOTOS
These are photos I shot quite a few years back when I was SCUBA diving. I throughly enjoyed the sport and wish I was able to continue, but alas, time and money are a bit tighter these days. I hope you enjoy looking at these as much as I enjoyed taking them. They are taken in many places, from the Virgin Islands to the Caymans.
The first photo is of a French Angelfish. Angelfish are curious about divers and often follow you around like a dog for the whole dive. This was taken in the British Virgin Islands. Look closely in the background and you can see the rail of a sunken ship behind the fish's dorsal fin. This is the wreck of the "Rhone" the ship the movie "The Deep" was filmed on...The second photo is a banded coral shrimp. The are only about 2 inches long in the body, but have long legs and feelers...The third photo is of a school of yellow striped grunts. You can hear them "grunting" underwater...The forth photo is of course dinner. They will try to stab you with thier antenne and lodged themselves in under the rocks. I just took thier photo...The fifth shot is one of my favorites. It is a live shell with the creature spread out over the shell and the sea bottom. I don't know what kind it is.
This first one is of a red sponge and various corals and feather dusters. Red is a color that does not show up underwater without additional lighting. It is interesting as if you cut yourself you bleed green...This next one is taken in a caveren under a ledge. It has a yellow sponge and cardinal fish...This is a beautiful purple sea fan, a type of soft coral with a squrriel fish...And although this last one is not underwater, the sunset in the Virgin Islands is...., well you can see for youself.
