Zagreb is the capital of the Republic of Croatia. It has nearly 1,000,000 inhabitants and it is the largest city in Croatia. It lies at the feet of Mount Medvednica (or Zagrebacka gora - 1035 m), the last spur of the Alps, and along the banks of the River Sava, 170 km from the Adriatic Sea.

The Upper Town (Gornji grad) and Kaptol
The well-preserved historical core of the city, rich in old churches and secular buildings can be seen throughout the city.
The Lower Town (Donji grad)
Built at the turn of the 19th century.
New Zagreb (Novi Zagreb)
A city of modern architecture built since the end of the Second World War on the right side of river Sava.
