Why do I mention this word? It couldn’t happen to you right? Well, you never know what circumstances will do to you. Many people who commit suicide, are not just people who are mentally sick but overwhelmed by life’s problems. Even Job cursed the day he was born.
Job 3:3 LET THE DAY PERISH WHEREIN I WAS BORN, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
That’s depressed! He went through a lot. He was disappointed and upset with all that happened to him, but still believed in God. Jeremiah, was called the weeping prophet, because he went through a lot also. Look what he said.
Jer 20:14 CURSED BE THE DAY WHEREIN I WAS BORN: let not the day wherein my mother bare me be blessed.
If you were a student at Columbine High or any of the other places where some one you know died, it would also be devastating. Even with great faith, these things are hard to bear.
When my son Jimmy died, I was glad that others came to the Lord at his funeral, but he is someone who will never be replaced by someone else. I will miss him, even though it’s been 10 years since he was electrocuted when he was 14. It was a hard time. Well, we all have hard times. It is called the testing of our faith. But we need to look at things the way God does.
Many people came to the Lord during these horrible happenings. And yet the mother of one of the children who survived, took her own life.
How do we cope with these things? Jesus Himself wept when Lazarus died. God gave us feelings. And He allows us trials. But He promises us comfort:
2Co 1:4* WHO COMFORTETH US IN ALL OUR TRIBULATION, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
2Co 7:6* Nevertheless GOD, THAT COMFORTETH THOSE THAT ARE CAST DOWN, COMFORTED US BY THE COMING OF TITUS;
God will give us comfort in all our tribulation. Many times we just go off by ourselves and think sad thoughts. What we should do is to spend that time telling God all our feelings. Get your feelings out to God, like Jesus did in the garden of Gethsemane.
Mt 26:39* And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, LET THIS CUP PASS FROM ME: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
Jesus came, He prayed, but then He obeyed. God does not want anyone to commit suicide. That’s why He is there for us. So we don’t have to go through these things alone. We never have to wait for a psychiatrist’s appointment. He’s available 24-7. He’ll be there if you ask Him. No waiting, no just a minute till I finish this, just instant caring. A listening voice, a feeling of comfort. God is there. Even up to the moment of our death.
Ps 23:4 YEA, THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL: FOR THOU ART WITH ME; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Do not fear. God is here, God will hear, and God will answer. Just listen. Ask believing.
Ps 17:6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
Jer 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
It is the devil who wants you to think there is no hope, he wants to kill you;
Joh 10:10* THE THIEF COMETH NOT, BUT FOR TO STEAL, AND TO KILL, AND TO DESTROY: I AM COME THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE LIFE, AND THAT THEY MIGHT HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY.
God wants you to have a good life, filled with the joy of your salvation. It is there that you have your hope. Even if things go all wrong in this life, you have another life coming up that will be filled with good things. If someone you loved died as a Christian, you will see them again. Don’t despair. Remember your future that Jesus is preparing for you!
God is not one who just sits in heaven and ignores His children when they call Him. God loves you and He cares about every little detail of your life.
If you don’t hear from Him directly, look in the Bible. The answers are all there. God never changes. His love is everlasting. If you did something wrong, confess it to Him, He will heal you.
