Are we related by the way of Moore/O'Brien? Thanks for any info you can share.

I'm recently partially retired and new to genealogy - a real klutz but having fun. As you can tell from my last name (Roelf), we have similiar spellings. My great grandfather, Deterdt Von Roelfs, was born in Germany. He and his wife sailed to New York,(da e?), then moved to German Valley, IL, and finally to Allison, Iowa in 1900. As is common, the Von was dropped and then the "s" at the end of Roelfs. If I can be of any help to you, please contact me. Your web page is beautiful. Bob Roelf 403 Elmira St. Iowa City, IA 52245

If things do not track exactly the same everytime, I'm never sure that I have accomplished what I had intended. I did see the Hartje surname in y ur list. Maybe there is a connection. The names that I am currently searching are Planeta, Shea (Shay), Tatro (Tetreau) and Ziesemer. Right now all of these are in northeastern Illinois. I do now the Planeta's immigranted from Czech. and landed somewh re in TX. The name of the town was something like Tuber or Puber? I can only guess that it is in the vicinity of Galveston. If you have any information for me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jolene

Hi Carolyn, I'm researching the SCHULENBERG family in Ohio and HAEHL family in Indiana. Both are directly from Germany, but we have just started on these lines. My families are Scots-Irish and English, so I'm not too well versed in the German immigration sites. If you have suggestions, I'd appreciate them. Sincerely, Nancy Howard

My maiden name is Tebo. My father thinks it was changed from a french spelling Thibault. However, we have no way of being sure. His family is from somewhere in Illinois, Peoria area he thinks. I have recently heard that Tebo is german, so maybe we are of german origin, not french as my father believes. My grandpa's middle name was Brachman, or Brockman, which sure sounds german to me. I don't know where to begin the search...we do not know my grandpas place of birth or his parents names.

Dear Carolyn: Can't thank you enough for all of your hard work for me. I have been working on uploading all day and just now finished my page (your page really). I was getting disconnected mid-stream during the upload process; so I just uploaded 2 or 3 files at a ime and it worked. You should be able to link up to my page now. I am going to use your basic format and change things a bit but at least I'm up and running. I am having a bit of difficulty sending e-mail to Esther from her site and I may encounter the same with yours as well...we'll see. I promise that I'll make my home page a credit to your hard work and efforts. I truly treasure your friendship and hope I can talk to you more often. Hope all is well with your job and businesses. God bless and I love the "Angels" Your pal, Pat
