My grandfather, Louis Green, owned concession stands and lived summers on Put-in-Bay for approx 30 years until about 1935 when his wife died. Have been told he and another man were instrumental in acquiring a fire truck for the island. One family member believes he owned the merry-go-round (not the one there now). Have visited P-I-B; one islander remembered Louie, and said as a boy 8 or 9 worked for Grandfather; that is, until Grandfather fired him (with a smile)for allowing someone to win too large a p ize. So far unable to trace the story about the fire truck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
