FABA Meeting Minutes

February 12, 1998

_____________________________________________________________

The meeting was called to order by Clark Frederick with 28 members present.

The minutes of the January 8th meeting were read. Todd Weiss noted that signs were to be
printed allowing no children in the Concession Stand, not limiting the number of children, as
reported in the minutes. Motion to accept the minutes as corrected was made by Tim
Heffner. Seconded by Dave Snyder.

Tom Weir presented the Treasurer’s Report. Income of the month was $41.00. Expenses
were $189.20. Leaving a balance for the month of January at $789.30.
Tom noted that we incurred $6.00 in service charges because the balance fell below $1000.
Tom reported that the coaches who attended the Coaches Clinic at Play Ball will be
reimbursed by the next meeting.

The three sign-ups produced at least 331 registrants for the 1998 season. The fees
collected will allow the Association to meet all pre-season expenses.

Tom reported that Lois Kelly presented figures to him which supports the theory that the
previous treasurer combined income from the concession stand in with income from the
Fund-Raising campaigns, thus deflating the Concession Stand income figures.

Motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report was made by Pete Cortazzo and seconded by Mark
Storms.

Clark Frederick reported that he spoke with Stan Kita concerning the possibility of the School
District placing soda machines outside at the elementary schools. The school board has
preliminarily accepted the idea. This would alleviate the problem of providing cold
refreshments at the FABA-sponsored games. The FABA will not profit from the sales from
these machines.

Al Ottinger reported that the School Board has purchased 39 acres along Park Road for
future growth needs. Eight of the 39 acres will be set aside for the development of 2 youth
baseball fields and two youth soccer fields. The School District may request that the local
youth athletic associations assist with developing the fields. It is hoped that these fields
would be available for use within two years.

Opening Day will be held as it was last year with all teams playing and all team pictures
being taken.

Committee Reports
13 to 15 Division- Tim Heffner reported that 37 participants have registered for the 13 to 15
Division. Junior Legion uniforms and patches have been ordered.
The City-County League is asking for an additional $50 to supply league participants with
warm-up shirts commemorating the 30th anniversary of the league.
Tim expressed a concern that depending which players make the Junior Legion team, there
may not be coaches available to coach the other teams in the 13 to 15 Division. If
necessary, we can advertise in the local newspapers for a coach.
The Junior Legion plans to have a chicken Bar-B-Que as a fund raiser.

Senior Division
Clark reported that the Senior Division may consist of 5 teams for the 1998 season.
Rule changes for the 1998 season have been agreed upon by the Senior Division coaches.
Kathy Battler asked if Diamond team players will also play in-house. Clark announced that
they will.

Junior Division
The Junior Division National League is presently in need of two coaches for the 1998
season.
It appears that there will be 6 teams in the National league and 7 in the American League.

dates have been reserved on the Blandon Fire Company field for use by Tee-Ball.
