FABA Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order by Clark Frederick. The minutes of the December 12th meeting were read. Motion to accept the minutes was made by Tim Gardner, seconded by Todd Weiss. Tom Weir presented the Treasurer’s Report. Income for the month was $1.75. Expenses were $442.73. Leaving a balance of $936.64. Motion to accept the Treasurer’s report was made by Bob Foose and seconded by Tim Gardner. Tom noted that “on paper”, the concession stand actually lost money. Members of the association discussed the situation and determined that the most likely cause of this situation is bookkeeping. Lois Kelly mentioned that the total income figures from Fund Raising seemed high, so perhaps some of the Concession Stand income was included in the Fund Raising totals. Tim Gardner suggested buying a used cash register for the Concession stand which could print out a tape to more closely monitor the money being taken in. It was also suggested that nightly bank deposits be made. Clark suggested instituting a rule limiting the numbers of children permitted in the Concession Stand as well as the announcer’s booth. Lois Kelly made a motion to have signs made posting such rules. Seconded by Tim Gardner. Under New Business, Clark announced that Registration for the 1998 season will be held February 2nd and 4th from 6 to 8 pm and February 7th from 9 am to noon. Registration Fees for Tee-Ball will be increased to $25 and fees for all other programs will be increased to $50. Ivan Martinez announced that a Coach’s Clinic, featuring Bill Robinson, will be held at Play Ball in Shillington on February 7th, from 7 to 9 pm. All coaches from the FABA are invited. The fee is $10, which will be reimbursed by the FABA or deducted from their child’s registration fee. Committee Reports Junior Legion - Tim Heffner requested an entrance fee for a Memorial Day tournament. It was also noted that registration fees can be collected from Junior Legion players and that Chris Mackey will assist Manager John Endy. Senior Division - Clark reported that the Senior Division will play their games at Richmond Elementary with 75 ft. bases. Junior Division - Randy Brunner asked if the Junior Division teams should have hats printed with the Fleetwood emblem or should order hats with Major League Baseball emblems. Randy will look into the pricing of hats. Tee Ball - Eric Bauman reported that he will put an equipment order together for the 1998 season. The Tee Ball season will start earlier and have fewer games. Umpires - Randy Stitzel reported that the 1997 season went smoothly with few problems. He requested that coaches inform him of make-up games so an umpire can be scheduled. Umpire clinics will be set up. Randy would like names of parents who umpired tee ball, so they can be contacted about the clinics. It was suggested that 13-15 year-olds be used for Junior Division games. Motion to adjourn was made by Randy Brunner and seconded by Tim Gardner.
