FABA Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order by Clark Frederick with 20 members present. The minutes of the February 12th meeting were read. Motion to accept the minutes as read was made by Tim Gardner, seconded by Ivan Martinez. Tom Weir presented the Treasurer’s Report. Motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report was made by Ed Ed Doerrman, Seconded by Tim Gardner. Old Business Tim Gardner reported that Sheds will again be placed at the satellite fields by Coca-Cola. Coke has also donated $480 in products to the Junior Legion team and offered scoreboards where ever needed. Clark reported that the Diamond League team has been filled. New Business Eric Bauman suggested implementing an award program for teams which sell the most in their respective division’s fundraiser. The association offered ideas such as a party at Family Grand Prix and Philadelphia Phillies tickets. Committee Reports Junior Division - Steve Skehan reported that a coaches meeting will be held soon and requested that Randy Stitzel attend. Steve also reported that preparation for National League tryouts is nearly complete and that 2 National League coaches are still needed. Senior Division - Steve Blieler reported that the Senior Division teams will consist of 11 players each. Steve will check the equipment bags and prepare 6 team bags. An equipment work party is set for March 24 Steve Skehan suggested that we color code the various division uniform shirts so they match colors when a player is moved from one division to another. County Teams - Tim Heffner reported that Dave Crissman is the Senior Diamond League coach and Mike Mayer is the City/County Team coach. The Junior Legion team requested an additional $50 for a deposit to the league as a new entry. The Junior Legion team will participate in a 4th of July Tournament at Pine Forge. The City/County team will play a 24-game schedule. Junior Legion try-outs will be held March 28th and 29th. Tee-Ball - Eric Bauman reported that the additional Tee-Ball registration yielded 36 sign-ups. A separate Tee-Ball newsletter will be sent to the Kindergarten and 1st grade classes next year to announce registration. Maintenance Clark reported that the infield was dragged at Richmond and that the field preparation is about complete. Mark Storms reported that drainage water needs to be diverted away from the infield at the Andrew Maier Field. Ivan Martinez volunteered to get the Andrew Maier field in shape for the season. Umpires Randy Stitzel reported that the Umpire Clinic at Smith Field is scheduled for April 13 at 6:30pm. Randy also reported that he has the list of umpire volunteers and is awaiting completion of the league schedules. Fundraising Lois Kelly has learned of a Fundraising company which offers similar products, but with higher profit percentages and a better prize program located in Hazelton. The Fundraising projects for 1998 are as follows: Tee-Ball - Cheesecakes Junior Division - Pizza Senior Division - Beef Sticks County Teams - Chicken B-B-Q Concessions Todd Weiss reported that he and Karen will stock the concession stand with non-perishables. In order to properly prepare the concession stand for the season, Todd requested that the water be turned on as soon as possible. Todd suggested that the $500 payment for overseeing the concession stand be discontinued. Tom Weir reported that Accident, Health and Liability insurance for the Junior Legion team will be deducted from the FABA insurance policy.
