Rules & Guidelines
Game Rules
1. Games shall consist of three(3) innings.
2. All play shall begin with the catcher placing the ball on the tee and the
home plate umpire announcing “Play Ball”.
3. Batting: All players shall bat each inning. Batters must take full swings
at the ball and shall bat until he/she gets a hit. There are no strikeouts.
4. No sliding. Runners should be instructed not to slide if they do so.
5. A fair ball must pass the “Fair ball line” marked on the field. See field
diagram.
6. Batters and runners who are put out by a defensive play must return to
the players bench.
7. Batters who throw the bat while swinging shall be called out. Umpire
discretion is permitted.
8. Only the on-deck batter shall be permitted to handle a bat. On-deck
batters shall be at a safe distance from the players bench and
supervised by an assistant coach at all times.
9. When a team is batting, all players, except the on-deck batter, shall
remain on the players bench. If there is no bench available, players
must sit or stand together as a group.
10. Players who arrive after a game has begun, shall be placed last in the
batting order. The umpire and opposing coach should be notified.
11. All players shall play in the field defensively each inning. Defensive
positions: Pitcher, Catcher, First Base, Second Base, Short Stop, Third
Base. Remaining players shall be positioned in the outfield.
a. No player shall play the same position for more than one inning in
the same game.
b. Coaches may change player positions during an inning when granted
a time out.
12. No stealing. Base runners shall remain on the base until the ball is hit
by the batter. If a runner leaves the base before the ball is hit, “Dead
ball” shall be called . The runner shall be instructed to remain on base
until the ball is hit. The play is dead and shall be replayed.
13. The Pitcher must be in contact with the pitching rubber before play can
begin. The Catcher shall stand behind the home plate umpire; at least
10 feet from the batter favoring the opposite side that the batter is
batting from.
14. An over-throw that remains on the playing field shall be considered a
live ball. Runners may advance. An over-throw which leaves the
playing field shall be called a dead ball. Runners advance one base.
15. A Time Out can be called for reasons such as to provide instruction,
repair or adjust equipment, injury, or change player positions. Time
outs can only be called when the ball is dead. A Time Out begins only
when announced by an umpire.
16. All equipment shall be in good condition. The umpire has the authority
to remove any unsafe equipment.
17. No judgment calls by an umpire shall be questioned by coaches. Only
calls which pertain to these Game Rules shall be questioned, and only
for the purpose of helping players understand the game of Tee-Ball.
18. No player shall be permitted to be a batter, base-runner, or catcher
unless they are wearing a batting helmet.
Guidelines
1. A Tee-Ball coaching staff shall consist of a head coach and up to three
(3) assistant coaches. A team mother shall be appointed by the head
coach.
1. At all games, the Home Team has the responsibility to line the field (if
necessary), rake the infield (if necessary), and install bases. The Away
Team is responsible for providing umpires. Both teams are responsible
for closing the field (remove bases, secure field equipment, lock doors,
etc.), turn off lights, empty trash cans (if necessary), lock portable
toilets, etc.
2. The Tee-Ball Committee shall contact both head coaches in the event of
a rain-out. If members of the committee are not available, the head
coach of the home team shall make the determination if the game is
playable and shall contact the away team coach.
3. Instruction and recreation shall be the goals of Tee-Ball, not
competition. Score shall not be kept. All games will be considered to
have “ended in a tie”.
4. All players, coaches and umpires shall line up at homeplate at the
conclusion of games to shake hands.
5. Coaches are asked to control the demeanor of their team’s supporters.
Any situation which cannot be handled by the coach, shall be referred to
the Tee-Ball Committee.
6. All head coaches and assistant coaches are expected to adhere to the
regulations set forth by the Tee-Ball Committee and adopted by the
Association. Any coach not adhering the regulations shall be subject
to review by the Tee-Ball Committee.
7. All coaches are permitted on the playing field when their team is
playing defense in order to provide instruction.
