Junior Legion Report

May 18, 1998

The Fleetwood Junior Legion Team is 2 and 1 in pre-season action.
This weekend they lost 10-8 to the state champion Boyertown Grizzlies.
They then beat Pottsgrove 16-8 in the second half of a doubleheader.
The team is making great strides under the guidance of first year coach John Endy.
The regular season begins Friday, May 22 at
the Reading-Berks Junior Legion Tournament at Reading.

May 26, 1998

The Fleetwood Jr Legion team had a wonderful start this weekend at the Reading Tournament. The team finished with the third place trophy in its inaugural tournament. Friday began the tourney with a 26-1 pasting of Birdsboro, which was followed on Sat with a 12-2 victory over Topton. Sunday provided the only setback of the weekend with a 9-6 loss to a strong SV team. Then after earning a berth in the trophy round on Monday, Fleetwood beat Temple with a dramatic come from behind win in the bottom of the last inning. Fleetwood hosts its first home games on Friday May 29 at 6:00 at the Middle school then Sat May 30 at 1:00 at the Middle School.

June 10, 1998

After a slow start to the season the Junior Legion team has rebounded with 4 straight solid efforts. A big win over Spring Twp. and two decisive wins over Topton and Hamburg last week left their record at 3-3. With a hard fought 8-5 loss to a strong Muhlenberg team on Monday the record is now 3-4. The players are starting to play as a team and are gaining valuable experience against much more established clubs. We are all looking forward to the rest of the season.

June 17, 1998

The Jr Legion team evened their league record to 4-4 with a come from behind win over Oley. Fleetwood scored 5 runs in the bottom of the last inning to win. The game was called due to darkness in the 5th inning. Fleetwood has won 4 of the last 5 games.
