Color Turtles
Instructions:
Cut the turtle shapes out of light green construction paper. Give each child a turtle shape and help the child use crayons to draw one dot on the turtle’s back in each of these colors: red, yellow, blue, purple, green, brown, white, orange, and black. Then recite the poem and have the children point to each color on their turtles as you name it.
I can name these colors,
All so very bright,
Red, yellow, blue, purple,
Green, brown, and white.
Don’t forget the color orange,
And the color black,
These are the colors of
The dots upon my turtle’s Back!
This rhyme and pattern are also great as a Flannel Board. Simply, enlarge the turtle pattern below and cut it out of light green felt. Cut nine equal size circles out of the colors listed above. Then recite the poem above and place the corresponding color circles on the turtle’s back.
