The earliest records of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, begins with the following covenant: "We, the Disciples of Jesus Christ, whose names are hereunto annexed, living in and near Pleasant Valley, Washington Country, Pennsylvania, (now Lone Pine), being desirous to facilitate our growth in grace and in the knowledge of truth, believe that we could more effectually accomplish this object by being united in one body, ourselves to the Lord and to one another." The Charter members who met at the home of Brother Frederick Shrontz on the 16th day of October 1841 were: Simeon Hathaway, Frederick Shrontz, Jacob Egy, Albert Gordon, David Egy, Sarah Shrontz, Annie Young, Mary Egy, Christiana Cooper and Sarah Hatfield. In the fall of 1843 a frame meeting house was built on the location at the crossroads where it is presently Lone Pine Market.
On April 18, 1857, three acres of land were deeded to the Church of David Frazee, Sr. and David Slusher, to be held sacred for a cemetery and a meeting house and for no other purpose. It was incorporated on May 17, 1859. The frame meeting house became too small and the present building was constructed across from the cemetery and completed October 7, 1869 and dedicated January 3, 1870.
In October 1920 the church was reserved on the inside. Rev. Lyman P. Streator was the first minister of the Disciples Church and established Pleasant Valley Academy, in the village; the leading prep school in Washington County until 1871. The Women's Missionary Society was organized in 1887. Now, Christians Women's Fellowship, 100th anniversary celebrated October 11, 1987. The annex to the church was dedicated June 3, 1979, the annex mortgage burned October 11, 1987. The church parsonage was built September 1958. The stained glass windows were given in memory of families and the Ladies Aid Society and are the original windows and still a beautiful part of the church sanctuary.
In 1966 Mrs. William Moulton presented the congregation with the ground behind the church for a cemetery. On September 29, 1991 the church celebrated its 150th anniversary, at which time fifty year members were recognized, and a dinner was served in the "Lloyd Clemens Memorial Shelter" recently completed. Many ministers have served the church over the years.
