Being the mother of three girls I found myself getting involved in a great organization.
I was asked if I could help out in a Girl Guide unit and of course I said yes
thinking it was only for a short time....yeah right...that was 18 years ago
and I am still helping...LOL...But this has been a great experience for me...my
girls are done in the movement now, but I am still there. I think this is what kept
me going all these years.
Another thing that I do and enjoy is coach bowling for the Special Olympics.
I just started this about six years ago and I find it very rewarding. In 1997, the softball team in our area won the gold medal at the Provincial Summer Games and in 1998, represented New Brunswick at The National Summer Games in Sudbury, Ontario. They won the Gold Medal in the "C" division. I was chosen to go with the team as an assistant coach. I was very proud to be represent my province at the games. On January 7th, 1999, our softball team was awarded the title of "Canadian Special Olympics Team of the Year". This was quite an honour for all of us.
For the last 8 years I have been working as a teacher's assistant helping children with learning difficulties and behaviour problems.
This can be very demanding at times but is very rewarding and I enjoy every minute of
it.
IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER:
