HOLLOPETER

Dawnette's HOLLOPETER Genealogy Project

My research on my own Hollopeter lines has developed a life of its own! As a result, I have embarked upon a single-surname study on HOLLOPETER in the U.S. My database, consisting of over 2,200 HOLLOPETERs plus related individuals (for a total of over 6,700 individuals at present) is being compiled through consultation of a variety of sources--Ridenour and Burris' The Hollopeter Family Record (1957), Jan Herbert's The Hollopeter Brothers and Their Edmonds Wives of Fostoria Ohio (see below), the SSDI, vital records, county histories, cemetery records, obituaries, census records, newspaper articles, information from other researchers and living Hollopeters, etc.--and I am adding more information daily.

In using Ridenour and Burris' The Hollopeter Family Record (1957), I am attempting to correct and update this definitive work on the descendants of Matthias Hollopeter (1728-1799). While a starting point for anyone with Hollopeter ancestry, this 56-page booklet does contain a number of errors. THFR is also notably silent regarding many Hollopeter lines--and there have been quite a few Hollopeter births, deaths, and marriages since 1957! One of the biggest problems with THFR is its lack of an index, which makes look-ups a nightmare. I have indexed THFR, thereby making this valuable Hollopeter resource much more accessible; it is now much easier to search for individuals, cross-check information, and put researchers in contact with each other. If you have have found errors or missing information in THFR, please e-mail me.

I have included the following spelling variants in my Hollopeter "dump file," as well: HOLLIPETER, HOLLOPTER, HALLOPETER, HOLLOPETRE, HULLOPETER, HOLOPETER, HOLLOPATER, HOLLOWPETER, HALLOWPETER, HOLOTER, HOLOPTER, HALLEPETER, etc.

This project is a tool for other HOLLOPETER researchers. If you have information you would like to add, or if you would like a look-up in my Hollopeter "dump file," please e-mail me: rbngdfello@aol.com. I would be delighted to hear from you and am happy to share whatever I might have regarding your Hollopeter lines.
