Buenos married Sept. 1, 1833, Sarah Osborn, daughter of Ransom and Sarah (Hurd) Osborn, who was
born at Oxford, New Haven County, Conn., Sept. 2, 1816. She was of English descent, her ancestors
having resided in New England many generations - so says an old letter. Can anyone give the Osborn
and Hurd lines down to Sarah? Or the Bell and Wait lines? Did Asa Ayres serve in the Revolutionary
War from Massachusetts? He seems to have lived at Chester, Hampden County, Mass., until after 1810.
His father lived at Granby, was drowned Nov. 13 (or 15?), 1768, aged fifty-two. His wife died Oct. 23
(or 25?), 1765, aged forty-one. Do not know when Asa and his wife died nor age at death.
Shall be glad to give more data to ones interested in these lines.
#2900.2 AYRES. C.R.W. B., Nov. 25, 1912. Recently I purchased a copy of the old Ayres work, on the
“Descendants of Captain John Ayres of Brookfield, Mass.” In it was some of the data sought, but
much lacking. He had a son Samuel who married Abigail Fellows, and they had a son Samuel, who
married Martha Bell, Jan. 21, 1742, and had ten children, as we found this the popular number for his
father and his descendants; for Asa Ayres, his son, born June 5, 1761, married Mary Wait and had ten
children also. One son bore the odd name Buenos Ayres, the youngest, who was but ten when his
father moved to Ohio and bought land in Geauga County.

Ayres of Brookfield, MA from 1870 by William Henry WHITMORE. Of the questions here, I would
have interest in knowing the answers, if you have the information in your records. Please e-mail the

I am currently working on compiling an updated record of the Descendants of Captain John AYRES of
