     #6030. 3. AYRES.   S. B. C., Feb 26, 1917.  If you examine Haverhill [MA] records carefully, I think
you will find that you have confused two John Ayres, a name with various spelling.  John (2) Ayres,
son of John (1) Ayres and Hannah, his wife, born in England, married, first, May 5, 1646, Sarah
Williams; second, March 26, 1663, Mary Woodam, daughter of John and Mary Woodam of Ipswich.
(Haverhill records).

     "Know all men, etc., that I, Mary Wooddam, relict of John Wooddam of Ipswich, with the consent of
John Eyres and Mary his wife my daughter and only child of the aforesd John Wooddam..." signed
29th of March, 1679.  Mary  x [her mark]  Wooddam, John Eyres, Mary Eyres, (Ipswich Records, Vol.
iv., page 336.)  

     Also, "Whereas Hannah Ayer ye Relict and executrix of ye Last Will and testamentof John Ayer
Late of Haverhill deceased did by one deed of sale under her hand and seale bearing date Feb. 3,
1681, gave, grant, etc., unto Robert Ayer of Haverhill her son all that right, title, etc., to all lands,
meadows, etc., in ye Township of Salisbury and whereas Robert Ayer hath granted, sold, etc. unto
Abraham Clement of Salisbury ye above sd lands and know ye that wee John Ayer of Ipswich, Peter
and Nathaniel Ayer of Haverhill all sons of ye aforesaid John Ayer deceased formerly of Salisbury and
Hannah his wife have forever Released and guit claimed, etc, unto Abraham Clement of Salisbury all
lands, meadows, &c, &c., above sd."  signed John Ayer, Nathaniel Ayer and Peter Ayer.  Dec. 3, 1692.
(Ipswich Records, Vol. v., page 464.)

     Captain John Ayers, who married Susanna Symonds, was of Ipswich in 1648, and removed to
Brookfield, [MA] where he was killed by the Indians August 3, 1675.
