     6096. 5. AYERS, EYERS. M. L. C. M., Sept. 26, 1927. The Ayer genealogy in Essex Antiquarian
mentions the name spelled twenty-nine ways in the records.

John (1) from England. In Salisbury 1640, to Haverhill 1647, died there March 31, 1657. His widow
died Oct. 8, 1688.

John (2), farmer, born (when?), lived Haverhill until 1679. He married, first, Sarah Williams, who
died July 25, 1662. He married, second, March 26, 1663, Mary Woddan [Woddam?], who died his
widow, in 1694.

     John (3), born March 18, 1647, died Andover, July 19, 1683.

Savage gives different data, viz: John Ayers (Haverhill), son of John of Salisbury, born England,
married first, May 5, 1646, Sarah, daughter of John Williams of Haverhill, and next, after 1659,
Susannah, daughter of Mark Symonds of Ipswich, and removed to Brookfield, where he was killed by
Indians Aug. 3, 1675.

There is evidently a confusion of John Ayers here.
[YES there is! Savage's account is NOT correct!]
