     #8496.  3.  A. N. M.  - AYERS,  GRIFFITH - March 18, 1939.  The querist asks: Who was the
Elizabeth Ayers of Portsmouth, N. H., who married Dr. Caleb Griffith at Portsmouth, Oct. 30, 1701?

     Elizabeth Ayers was the daughter of Edward Ayers and Alice, his wife.  Edward Ayers was born in
Ipswich, Mass., Feb. 2, 1658, died in Portsmouth, N. H., about 1723.  His first wife Alice died in
Portsmouth on Feb. 9, 1717.

     Edward Ayers was the son of John Ayers, a soldier in King Philip's War, who was killed by Indians
at the destruction of Brookfield, Mass., Aug. 21, 1675.  John Ayers married Susanne Symonds, who
died in Ipswich Feb. 8, 1682.
