We believe our Ephraim Ayers born in 1733, a "Loyalist" during the Revolutionary War is the same Ephraim Ayres listed as # 38 in Whitmore's book, A Record of the Descendants of Capt. John Ayres. Can you tell me something more about footnote #6 "Of Ware River Parish, 1757, being about to serve under Lord Loudon, made his will, mentions bros. Jedediah and Stephen." Out Ephraim Ayres was captured by what he called the "rebels" and was imprisioned in Albany, New York for 5 years until the end of the War at which time he was released and settled in Brockville, Ontario, Canada where he was given land as a supporter of the crown. Ephraim's grandson, Zeno Ayers brought his family to Wisconsin in 1867. The lineage seems to stop at Ephraim, has there been research on his line? I use your information on the ODOM and associated families extensively - mainly for my own enjoyment. As I do not tie in until seven generations (or is it six) I have not really studied the ODOM in great, minute, micro detail.... but as my KOONCE and WE B are in the general area (Wilson and Cannon, later Henderson Counties Tennessee) at the same time I enjoy the history that surrounds your research. I have been at this "g" work since 1980 and did all my work in libraries and by mail until about four or ive years ago - tah-da = then came computers. I am very cautious about the modern day researchers who get 99% from Email and never crack a book or read a microfilm. I suppose it will work itself out, eventually, but what goes for "the gospel truth" on t e internet bothers me a whole bunch. Thanks for some good 'ole research - I really enjoy your site. Ken

Hannah Osborn/e, b. ?30 Jul 1789, Union co, NJ, m. Josiah Steele of Caldwell, Essex Co., NJ i15 Aug 1813 per entry in Caldwell Pres. Church records (said Jonah Steele). They moved near Columbus, Ohio and had several children. Moved to Illinois, both die in Schuyler co., Il and buried in Messerer Cemetery. I have much more info very willing to share but would love to know parents of Hannah. Also searching for Josiah Steele's mother's parents. Mother was Phebe Smith, m. in Caldwell, NJ, buried there t o but graves disburbed - no longer there.

I have been researching my Cuzzort line and I am finally making the connection of my Cuzzorts and Jacques Cossart. You have several of my ancestors and relatives listed. Thomas Cuzzort & Lucinda (McDonald) Cuzzort GGGgrandparents and Vatchel (i.e. Vachel David) Cuzzort GGGGgrandparent. Vachel's father was Isiah Cozart/Cuzzort who I have strong evidence is the son of Jesse Cozart who is the son or grandson of Anthony Cossart, Jr. My Cuzzorts settled into Crawford Co. IN abt 1830s-1840s and moved on into G bson Co IN in the late 1800s or 1900.

Gloria I'm interested in that you believe there is a connection between the name you are researching and my name. My own ancestry is based on the Borders region of Scotland - (Duns(e), Berwickshire and surrounding area). I have successfuly researched the family in that area back to the late 1600s. Family talk has it that they may originally come from France but thus far there is no evidence to support this. Cossar is not an uncommon name in the south of Scotland and I know two women who are researching their families who came from further west than mine. One in fact is doing a 'one nmae' study of the Cossar name. I would be interested to know where your family originated from before they settled in America and the approximate period when this occurred and also how the conclusion has been drawn that there is a link in the surnames.
