RE: Jasper GUNN's Will
Book: Some Of The Descendants Of Jasper Gunn Of Milford, CT
By Paul J. McCarthy; Volume 1, Lawrence, KS: 1977
Used by permission of the author.
From APPENDIX (p 107) - RE: Will of Jasper GUNN: The original of Jasper Gunn's will is lost, but there are two ever so slightly different copies made by a scribe, or scribes. The handwriting appears to be the same in both copies, but some letters are capitalized on one copy and not in the other, and some words are easier to read in one copy than in the other. There are no differences in the bequests made in the two copies. The date of the signing of the will is different in the two copies, being 24 Dec 1670 in one copy and 25 Dec 1670 in the other. In the copy with the earlier date Jasper Gunn is said to be "of Milford in ye county of Massachusetts," and in the other copy he is said to be "of Milford in ye county of Newhaven." So the later copy was made, perhaps, to correct the earlier one. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To view Jasper Gunn's will on the internet Ken Gunn's home page
