This issue of Internet Catch deals with two areas of genealogical research. The first one is geographically based in that we look at some research on one location in Pulaski Co., KY. The other is a look at the results of a search from the new supersite at the Family Search Internet Genealogy Service.

First, the Pulaski Co. search was begun at http://www.rootsweb.com/. This is one of the biggest starting points for genealogical research. Of course we can’t research everything in this little article so from there we went to http://www.rootsweb.com/~kygenweb/. Notice the "ky" in the last word of that address. I picked Kentucky because I have other ancestors there to but you could choose any other state. Once there you can find the county you are looking for and see what information that others have posted there. Below you’ll see samples of census data, wills, and military information. The other genealogical supersite on the web is brand new as of Spring ’99. Here’s some background into a little of what you’ll find there. If you have been in genealogy very long you have probably come across something known as IGI (International Genealogical Index) records. The only ones that I have ever seen have always been on microfiche which means all your searching is by hand and eye and very slow. From the search page at http://www.familysearch.org/Search/ a general search for "Adams" will reveal more that this whole issue of Adams Addenda could contain. Therefore I narrowed this search down to what I thought was a rather uncommon name. Anyway a search for Noah came up with 72 different entries from the IGI [See Below]. Following this, which I truncated for space sake, was a list of 24 genealogical web sites with Noah Adams, mentioned in them. Surely if you are looking for a Noah Adams he must be in this list somewhere. If not don’t give up there’s more out there this is just a starting point.
