In the Fall of 2001 I was looking to buy 2 tickets to Europe.
When I found the Cheaptrips.com web site I thought,
"Here is a good deal. What can I lose? They say they will refund
my money if I can't use it."
I sent them my credit card and got back a membership packet.
I read it all over and saw too many holes to jump through to make
practical use of the program.
I called them back and asked for a refund.
They said they couldn't do it over the phone.
They said I had to send back the membership packet.
This I did, the same day. (Big mistake, not to keep copies). I sent them
every scrap of paper they sent me.
I waited.
I waited.
I waited.
I called.
They said, we never got that packet.
A few days later I got a letter saying something to the effect of:
"Sorry we've had technical and personnel problems. Instead of a
refund we would like to offer you a free lifetime membership. Just sign here
and return this form."
Well, I just ignored that hoping that my refund would be soon to
follow.
I waited.
I waited.
I waited.
I called.
The manager said he couldn't do anything unless he could find that
packet I returned. I called MasterCard and tried to get a refund but because I
had waited more than 30 days it was too late to put in for a claim.
I guess I got cheated. I am out my membership money.
I have nothing to show for it but I did learn a lesson.
If this story helps you in anyway I am glad to know I have helped.
Cheaptrips.com does not tell the whole story until after they get your
money.
Today I got an invoice from them billing me for a lifetime membership.
They recognize that I have a membership number but yet they never
figured out that I want a refund.
They want another $45.00.
I have never gotten any benefit from this company nor used any service
they provide.
Why would they think I want a lifetime membership?
If you want more information about my dealings with this company please
email me with your questions.
If you have other complaints about this company I would be glad to hear
them.
