The Russell Family Philip Russell b. ca 1770-1780 d. 18 Sept. 1839 in Grayson County, VA, buried in Little =Wilson Cemetery on Route #16. said to have been a son of Philip and (--?--) (Brewer) Russell. (Guy Cornett, school paper, written in 1890's according to Lila Carpenter. No Evidence.). Philip Russell was found in the 1815 tax records, is shown as the owner of a farm on Fox Creek, which joined the land of Peter Delp. The 141 acre tract contained one cabin, one barn, and valued as $200. On 30 March 1997. Philip russell was taxed in Grayson County in 1796. In the Grayson County 1800 tax list for John Fielder's District, Philip Russell was taxed for one white male tithable age over 21, two horses, no slaves over age 12. The only Russell listed. William Holland also listed in the district. Rebeckah Russell b. ca 1782 in Tennessee, ca 1779-1780 (1860 census) or ca. 1781-1782 (1850 census)d.1875 in Grayson Co. Va. Buried in Little Wilson Cemetery on Route #16, with her husband. Rebeckah is said to have been raised by Bill Stone who lived on the Jim Shuler farm. He took her in at age 12 from the Flem Hakler farm. She is said to be a daughter of Bill Russell. She is buried with her husband. Children: 1.
