My Christmas Starter Row for a Row-by-Row Robin

This starter row was mailed to my "Send To" on Saturday, April 17, 1999

Christmas starter row by/for Cindy Kegley
The row is approximately 73 inches wide and approximately 18 inches high.

Close-up left end Angel square Close-up of the left end, an Angel square with "Cindy" embroidered

Rose embellishment Immediately to the right of the Angel square are 3 roses, a button, and a lace doily.

'CHR' first 3 letters of Christmas Immediately to the right of the roses the word "CHRISTMAS" is embroidered with flowers. Beads and pearls will be added when I do my final embellishments.

Pearlized Ribbon with star center This ribbon has pearls running down the middle of it, and silver threads mixed among the white. The pearls represent the royalty of Christ. The bow is shaped and sewn down to separate "Christ" from the "mass", showing that Christ was "separated" from the world at the same time He lived in the world. The sequined star sewn in the center of the bow is the "Star in the East" that the Wise Men followed that Holy Night. The heart button shows the love of the Father for mankind by sending His Son into our world.

A house with Santa Claus is at the right end of the row. A house block with Santa Claus standing in the doorway is at the right end of the row. The white in front of the house represents snow. The door is "hinged" on the left and will actually open and close. For this picture, I pinned the door open so you could see Santa. Did any of you recognize the yellow-headed quilter's pin?

I will not see my quilt row until the other 11 quilting friends have added their rows to this one. I will post it when I receive it back from the last friend. Once I have completed my embellishments, I will post it again so that you can see the finished quilt.
