This is where Silver Charm won the first leg of the Triple Crown by a head over the favorite, Captain Bodgit. Silver Charm is trained by Bob Baffert and owned by Bob and Beverly Lewis. Gary Stevens was the jockey who rode him to victory.
Preakness Stakes:
It was a photo finish as Silver Charm and rival Free House were "noses apart" right down to the wire. At the end, though, you can see Silver Charm give it an extra burst of speed to win it. He was now in the ultimate race for the Triple Crown!
Belmont Stakes:
Well, Gold triumphed over Silver...Touch Gold, that is. Toward the end of the race Silver Charm had taken the lead, and it looked like he was going to win it. The crowd was going wild. Then, a horse named Touch Gold roared up on the outside, passed Silver Charm, and won by four strides...3/4 of a length. It was later learned that Chris McCarron, Silver Charm's jockey, meant to sneak up on the leader and fly by at the finish-- and he did just that.
